About Me

Tasha Cerda has served as Mayor for nine years and is currently in her 17th year as an elected official. Raised in Gardena, she developed an early passion for service. Her humble beginnings shaped a vision rooted in dedication to the community, guiding her through more than two decades of public service. She began her journey with Neighborhood Watch, working alongside local residents to help navigate City Hall and address community concerns before ultimately deciding to run for office.

Mayor Cerda continues to advocate tirelessly for Gardena, representing the city on numerous regional boards and committees addressing issues that impact not only local businesses, but the state as a whole. She has also served as an ambassador, strengthening international relationships with Gardena’s Sister Cities in Mexico and Japan.

Under her leadership, Gardena has experienced significant progress—new housing developments, increased revenue, business growth, and major grant funding to support vital city projects that are visible throughout the community. All of this has been achieved while maintaining strong financial stewardship in her role as Chairwoman of the Finance Committee.

Since taking office in 2017, property values in Gardena have risen by more than 50%, surpassing $9 billion. This growth reflects the city’s steady progress toward its long-term vision of becoming a premier destination in the South Bay.

In her free time, Mayor Cerda enjoys hosting local town hall meetings to keep residents informed about city services and events. She also maintains a strong social media presence, where she highlights all that Gardena has to offer and shares the city’s story with a broader audience.

This is an achievement the entire community can take pride in, as Gardena continues to grow stronger and move closer to becoming a top place to live, work, and visit.
